What Are You Doing Here? PT 1

Text: I Kings 19:9 &13

” And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

1 Kings 19: 13. So it was, when Elijah heard that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

The Lord God Almighty has a great expectation of you, knowing the great potentials He has loaded you with and the strategic location He has situated you, the new month he has brought you into, and so many other things and people He has positioned strategically around you, He is justifiably asking you today, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

This was the question God asked Elijah twice in our scriptural focus above. Here was a man greatly anointed, and just a while ealier had put to death four hundred and fifty proohets of Baal in addition to four hundred proohets of Asherah after their false gods failed to answer by fire. But when Jezebel the boss of those false prophets threatened him Elijah fled and even prayed for death saying his life was not any better than his forefathers!!! Imagine that?
And to crown the blundering season of his life he told The All Kowing God that he was the only one remaining in the land who is still left standing with God.

TREASURES IN THE STORY.

A. God did not expect Elijah to run away from Jezebel. It is very obvious beloved reader that God expects you to stand your ground against any threat at the location of your assignment. The one who delivered Elijah from the Baal ealier would have delivered him. That much was the testimony of David in I Samuel 17: 34-37 that led to the decapitation of Goliath. Beloved has God delivered you before? He will do it again am very sure because of Hebrews 13:8. Therefore get back to your location.

B. God asked the man what he was doing at that location twice, and the same answer he gave on both instances was untenable and unacceptable.
There is a place God expects you to be despite the challenges of that location, it is laughable to think that there is a place where there is no challenge or threat. There is no such place.

C. Also, God did not design you to turn your back at your enemy, that’s why there was no provision for a spiritual cover for the back in the list of the whole armour of God as stated in Ephesians 6:11-18.Only God can shield you from dangers wherever you are.

D. .God expects you to be busy doing something wherever you are, Elijah was very redundant where he was found. A man loaded with fire provoking power of God!!! What a pity.
Even there where you have ran to what are you doing there beloved anointed man of God.
It does not matter how anointed you are, if you are not doing something you are wasting.
You are therefore guilty of:
1. Time wasting, when you should be redeeming time. Ephesians 5:16, especially in the light of Ecclesiastes 3:1.
2. You are wasting opportunities to redeem souls and turn people to righteousness, thereby excempting yourself from the group of the wise, sabotaging the reason for which Christ came to the world and knowingly or unknowingly collaborating with the devil.
3. You’re wasting other resources both human and material that God has sited and situated around your location to move His Kingdom forward. Have you not observed that each time you make a move to do God’s will the result is always more than your efforts? Its because of heaven’s push through these kingdom supporters in prayers and in other areas situated around you by God.
4. You are wasting or delaying to say the least, the time and life of the future generation whose lives you were sent there to positively influence so that they could be equipped to take over where you have been programmed to stop. Your inaction is affecting future generation, what are you doing here?

Today, let your hand find something to do, a folded hand is the picture of a stagnated future. Look for problems to solve.
Until you unfold your hands and lay them on something, you make it difficult for God to bless you. See Ecclesiastes 9:10; and Deuteronomy 28:8 for confirmation.

Until you act you limit what God can do in your area of influence. David could have fled the battle front after delivering the refreshments to his brothers, that would have left God without somebody, a point man through whom to showcase His awesome power. Don’t create a vacuum at your location rather STAND UP FOR JESUS.

Don’t sheath your sword in the midst of battle and don’t be at ease in Zion, God does not have any reserved blessings for such people. Amos 6:1 is my witness in this case.

Pathetically, you may not know that your inaction is actually luring others into inactivity. This is one of the dangerously unintended consequences of your lethargy. Because of your passivity and inactivity others now see such line of action as the preferred option to take. The multiplier effects of your action can only be adequately calibrated by heaven.WOW!

Turn away today from non-challance, indifference, idleness and turn to zealousness, fervently and diligence irrespective of your location, and God who stood by Elijah against eight hundred and fifty soldiers will stand by you in Jesus’ name. The one who stood by Elisha when a battalion of Syrian soldiers came to arrest him will stand by you. The ever present help in times of need will make His presence felt around you twenty four seven in Jesus’ name.

You can’t take action on behalf of God unless you are on His side, turn away from sin and turn to God by inviting Christ into your life as Lord and Saviour NOW if you have not done so. Let us pray.

PRAYER FOCUS

A. Romans 12:11- Father, release your Holy Ghost fervency upon me a thousand times more than ever before in Jesus’ name.

B. John 6:9-14- Father, as I step out to take action where I am, let the little in my hand multiply exponentially like the disciples of old in Jesus’ name.
