Upgraded By Thanksgiving

Text: Luke 17:11-19 (ESV)

On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

God is the source of all blessings, and He naturally and justifiably expects you to be appreciative of what you did not have and you were supplied with.

The very attitude of ingratitude has so many destructive consequences, but that is not our focus today, rather we are looking at the upgraded effect of thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving to start with has a way of strengthening your relationship with Jesus, when the Samaritan in our scriptural focus came back to Jesus with praises, he ignited something in the master. It is called intimacy, its like you knowing somebody’s best meal and then without telling the fellow you suddenly appear with the best prepared and generous quantity of such meal.
The ingredients for preparation here are:
A. The loud voice of praise.
B. The fact that he fell on his face
These ingredients made the offer of praise much more appealing to the master.

Secondly, the fact that God dwells in the praises of His people adequately made the offer too loaded not to be acknowledged and appreciated. It was very obvious that the master was satisfied.

Thirdly, the offer of praise joined with specific thanksgiving from an unexpected source of a Samaritan is an added flavour of favour to the man. Beloved, this man was bereft of entitlement mentality and the attendant pride that make many People not to be appreciative.
In fact, the man displayed a high sense of unworthiness that added more value to his offer. The master said “…was no one found to return to give praise to God except this foreigner”. After all it is written in I Peter 5:6 that if you humble yourself before God He will respond by lifting you up. Small wonder the man was upgraded.

Finally, the master added greater blessings to the man. His health was upgraded. Once you abase yourself in the place of appreciation then you will be lifted and upgraded.
The man returned to his source, and ended up attracting more resources. Don’t disregard your source if you need more resources in the future.

Your appreciation could lead to an upgraded and better life for you and all yours embrace this man’s strategy today as this month rounds off and you would have programmed an upgraded blessing for your self in the coming month.

You can’t appreciate the giver of good and perfect blessing until you have accepted Jesus as Lord a d Saviour do it NOW if you have not done so. Let us pray.
