Topic: Take Your Pressing Very Seriously
Text: Philippians 3:13-14, Isaiah 60:1
” Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
” Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”
Greetings of of eternal love to.you our esteemed reader and friend wherever you may be connecting with us for your ever fresh and sizzling feast of the word and prayer worldover.
On the authority of Jeremiah 31:3 which says..
” The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee”
We fervently pray for you that:
The everlasting love of God will never expire over your life.
Whatever you will do that will make God to disconnect from loving you, may you never do such a thing.
Your lifestyle ŵill never repel the favour from the most high in Jesus’ name. AMEN & AAAMEN.
Today we are focusing on the need to take your pressing very seriously. In our scriptural reference above we read Apostle Paul saying:
#…He was pressing
#…Still focusing on the mark of high calling
#…That he does not consider himself to have arrived.
Beloved reader what does pressing in this context stand for or connote?
To press here means to make effort.
To keep making effort in increasing proportion.
To put pressure on yourself with the aim of producing the much desired result.
To press is to discipline yourself to do whatever you need to do in order to get whatever or attain the height you want to get to or attain.
#…It is the act of regular exercise for anyone who wants to keep fit physically.
#…It is the act of exercising faith for any and every believer in the God of Israel.
#….Pressing for a student is studying to pass your examinations and to excel in your education.
#…To the disciple, pressing is regular fasting and prayer to keep fit and overcome temptation.
Wherever pressing is missing pleasure is not guaranteed. There are several examples in the word of God for us to learn from. Some of them are:
A. When some people called vagabonds and sons of sceva did not engage pressing but were fast to claim title and display what they never earned, they were disgraced by demons.(Acts 19:13-16).
B. When some sons of Aaron burnt incense and set up fire that was not commanded. They were consumed by fire from on high.(Leviticus10:1)
C. Finally when some nine disciples were left at the valley and three were taken to the top of the mountain Jesus returned to tell the whole world that:
#…They lacked faith(Hebrews 11:1)
#…They lacked the discipline to fast.(Matthew 17:1-12).
Remember that Jesus even the only begotten son of God had to fast seriously to be taken seriously by the father. You cannot afford not to press further and harder.
Nobody grows without stretching, and nobody glows without growing.
Therefore I earnestly encourage you to take pressing and other physical and spiritual exercises very seriously if you desire to make impact and fulfil destiny.
PONDER ON THIS MATTER IN ORDER TO ASCEND GREATER HEIGHT.
