Topic: Who You Follow Determines What Follows You.
Text: Matthew 19:27-30.
” Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? [28] And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. [29] And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. [30] But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.”
Greetings of uncommon love to you dearly beloved reader and friend wherever you may be connecting with us for today’s feast of the word and prayer worldover.
We rely on the living word of our living God as it is written in Jeremiah 31:3 as follows:
” The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
To pray with you that:
The everlasting love of God will continue to avail for you and your lineage forever.
Whatever you will do that will reverse this special love and privilege you will never do forever.
Therefore you will get closer to God daily and enjoy His awesome presence perpetually in Jesus’ name. AMEN & AAAMEN.
Today we are sharing and praying on the topic who you follow determines what follows you.
In our scriptural reference above we read about a discussion Jesus had with his disciples during which Peter asked him the question that provoked the topic of this message.
Peter said we have left everything to follow you, what shall we have as a result of this step of faith.
The reply of Jesus is deep, comprehensive and loaded. He said:
A. There are rewards for each follower in this life.
B. There are rewards beyond this life.
C. Hundred fold magnitude of divine rewards are awaiting for each loyal follower.
D. In the life to come we shall be rulers and judges.
Jesus came to give us a complete package of salvation and abundant life. But the devil came to steal, to kill and to destroy.(Matthew 1:20, John 10:10)
WHY PETER ASKED THIS QUESTION
1. The question came as a result of human nature whereby knowing what you will be rewarded with will serve a motivational purpose.
2. This question becomes imperative for him to know the plans of the master for them. Somebody said, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
3. Peter asked the question to know their areas of advantage and to maximize it.
4. Peter could also have asked the question in order to know how to answer or reply their opposition, critics or mockers.
Beloved, stay with Jesus and avoid every attempt of the enemy to lure you away.
You cannot follow the way and miss your way to the father. You cannot not be connected to the father without acquiring the feather to fly further and farther above dangers and troubles.
You cannot follow Jesus and miss out on goodness and mercy, neither can you follow Satan and miss out on sickness and sorrow.
Whoever you follow determines what follows you, and what follows you determines what you distribute. It is written..Matthew 12:35.
” A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”
When the master was concluding his answer to Peter’s question he said something that must not be glossed over. That the first will be the last and the last will be first. In other words, this matter of seeking rewards will pull some people back and uplift others and the secret code is in Matthew 6:33 as follows:
Matthew 6:33 KJV
” But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”
seek God first, not rewards, seek his kingdom and its righteousness the rewards will follow automatically. May you not miss out on the ultimate divine rewards in Jesus’ name.
