Topic: Beware of Weekend Pitfalls
Text: II Samuel 11:1-5
” And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. [2] And it came to pass in an evening tide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. [3] And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? [4] And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. [5] And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.”
Greetings of ever faithful one to you beloved reader and friend wherever you are connecting with us for today’s edition of your tide turning and firerised feast of the word and prayers worldover.
Because the living word of God made it clear in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that:
” And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”
We passionately pray that:
God of all grace will multiply grace to you.
The Holy one of Israel will compel all round abundance to answer to your needs.
What you need to do good works shall be released to you in untold proportions in the mountain removing name of Jesus. AMEN & AAAMEN.
Today we are focusing on weekend pitfalls. Generally people spend their weekends resting.
Others spend their weekends attending one social events or the other.
It has however been discovered that resting zone is potent to become a death and destruction zone if care is not taken.
Many well meaning people have found themselves in wrong companies during their free time just the way Jehosaphat was found in the company of Ahab in a battle against Ramoth Gilead.
Today, many believers have found themselves falling into sin during their presence at a weekend social gathering. Some have attended old school meeting and the flame of old sinning relationship partner had been rekindled and their marriages were never the same again.
Look at the story of David in our scriptural reference above. Here was a king who had everything, and his only mistake is that he was resting when he was supposed to be at the battle front, and then saw a woman, one thing led to the other the King committed a grave blunder. One of the unintended consequences of being occupied is that you are kept on your toes without any space for carelessness or slipshodness.
Beloved reader, be careful about your resting time, by learning from a few examples above you can develop a new strategy for optimal utilization of your resting time.
WHAT TO DO
#1…Develop the habit of planning ahead and alternating your rest with some learning activity.
#2…Appoint an accountability partner, empower the fellow to call a spade a spade for you without any form of embellishments.
#3…Be watchful and prayerful again and again.
#4…Even while resting make it a habit to surround yourself and fill your space with inspiring christian songs that will keep you charged spiritually.
#5… While resting on weekends or at whatever time ensure that you keep on sharing the gospel with people around you, this will keep you focused and repel distributors of filthiness.
PONDER ON THIS MATTER AND PRAY AGAINST ANY FORM OF SPIRITUAL BLUNDER.
