THE GOODTREASURE REVIVAL NUGGETS.
Date: January 6, 2025
Topic: The Mindset of A Long Distance Runner.
Text: 1 Kings 18:41-46

” And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. [42] So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, [43] and said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. [44] And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. [45] And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. [46] And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”

Greetings of enhanced capacity to you our much loved and cherished friend and reader wherever you are joining us for today’s edition of your firerised feast of the word and prayers worldover.

In I Kings 4:29 it is written as follows…

” And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.”

Therefore,God will deliver additional blessings to you that will provoke envy of those around you.
God will saturate every area of your life with multiple blessings in increasing proportion.
Pleasant surprises will dominate your experience this new year in Jesus’ name.

Let us share and pray together on the topic: The mindset of a long distance runner. Life is not a hundred meter dash rather it is a long distance race. Christianity is a race also yet not a short one its a life long race. It does not matter how you look at the year you will be better prepared for success if you develop the mind set of a long distance runner.

A long distance runner is characterized by:
#1…Long term thinking rather than short term.
#2…Uncommon resilience and endurance.
#3…A long distance runner will not only learn to develop more strength but how to carefully manage same over the time and duration of the race.
#4…Like in most races, runner in a long distance race concentrate on their race and maintain their track.

In our scriptural reference above, Elijah heard a sound of abundance of rain.
He knew it was time to process the sound into showers otherwise it will simply remain a potential without a manifestation.
He started praying, and kept praying while regularly checking for the expected result. He did not quit praying until the expected response by heaven was received on earth even in a rather small size (that is a matter for another day).
The man finally ran physically and arrived Jezreel ahead of the chariots of the king.
This is a classic example of someone with the mindset of a long distance runner.

Beloved you need to develop the mindset and disposition of a long distance runner.
In Genesis 26:1-22, we.read about Isaac who was resident in Gerah as was instructed by God, yet he came under severe attacks and antagonism from the natives of the place.
***The indigenes claimed the wells dug by servants of Isaac.
*** They opposed and schemed against his business interests with the aim of driving him out of town. But he had God’s promise to stand firmly upon.
*** This man refused to engage in any form of disagreement with the indigenes.
*** With consistency, patience and diligence he wearied out the antagonists and obtained his victory and ultimately got to his rehoboth.

Learn to keep going while others are getting tired and falling by the way side.
Prophet Jeremiah had asked a question which I think is very imperative for consideration and application at this point.

It is written in Jeremiah 12:5

” If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst Jeremuah 12:5- Father, thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trusted st, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

WHAT? ARE YOU TIRED WHILE RUNNING WITH FOOTMEN WHEN YOU SHOULD BE PREPARING AND EXERCISING BY RUNNING WITH HORSES!!!

HOW TO DEVELOP THE MINDSET OF A LONG DISTANCE RUNNER.

1. Catch a new and proper vision of your race in its entirety. A global perspective is imperative for reconfiguration of your mind.(Genesis 13:14-15)
2. Develop the much needed resilience both physically and spiritually.
3. Regularly sharpen your self and upgrade your standing capacity because you are to stand after you have done all.(Ephesians 6:13)
