Topic: Distraction is very costly.
Text: I Kings 20:39-42

” Now as the king passed by, he cried out to the king and said, “Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and there, a man came over and brought a man to me, and said, ‘Guard this man; if by any means he is missing, your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’ [40] While your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” Then the king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be; you yourself have decided it.” [41] And he hastened to take the bandage away from his eyes; and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets. [42] Then he said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Because you have let slip out of your hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’ ”

Greetings of increasing presence of God to you our esteemed reader and friend wherever you are joining us for today’s feast of the word and prayers world over.

Because it is written in Psalm 89:9 as follows:

” Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land.”

Therefore, the salvation of the Lord will be close to you and your loved ones this week.
By rapid divine intervention every unsavory situation around you shall be salvaged.
Your tabernacle will accommodate the glory of the Lord and it shall be seen by all in Jesus’ name. AMEN AND AAAMEN.

Today we are focusing on ‘ Distraction is very costly’. Focus is one of the characteristics of successful people. Focus is the state of producing clear visual definition as regards destination, goal and mission.

When focus is broken several things will follow such as:
A. Progress will be slow.
B. Goals will take a longer time to accomplish
C. When it is understood that nobody knows when the end will come, the future result initially set as vision will not be guaranteed anymore.

In our scriptural reference above, a king of Israel named Ahab was embarrassingly threatened by the king of Syria called Ben-hadad. The God of Israel delivered Syria and their king into the hand of Israel with the aim of destroying the Syrian King once and for all. But the king of Israel missed it through distractions as exemplified by the Prophetic message that drove the point home.

Further more God sent a son of the Prophet who demonstrated what happened to the king and made him to pronounce his own judgement.
God handed over Ben-hadad to Ahab and he let him off by an ungodly treaty and the judgement is this:
A. Your life will have to take the place of the life of the escaped King!!!.
B. Your people for his people.
All because “WHILE YOUR SERVANT WAS BUSY HERE AND THERE…”
Distraction is being busy doing what is secondary or counter productive while abandoning the primary assignment.
Distraction is shifting focus to less important thing at the detriment of the time meant for the most important issue.
Distraction dissipates resources and tend to waste same.
Distraction is very, I repeat very costly, avoid it.

Samson was distracted by strange women he loved, and he ended up dying with his enemies.
Gideon was distracted by his small background and utter unbelief and almost lost his destiny but for direct divine intervention.
Elijah was distracted by Jezebel after running on low strength and battery he fled and spoke negatively.
David was distracted when he stayed at home to take time off serious matter and ended up falling into a very costly temptation.
AVOID DISTRACTION IT’S VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY COSTLY.

Our greatest source of distractions today is our mobile phones. BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR HAND SET IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR DESTINY TO BE IN JEOPARDY.

HOW TO CURTAIL DISTRACTIONS.
1. Switch off notifications and alerts on a regular basis.
2. Set time apart to think alone.
3. Write things down with deadlines to achieve them.
4. Prioritize properly and stick to your programme.

PONDER ON THIS MATTER AND PRAY ABOUT IT.
