Text: II Kings 2:9-14
” And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. [10] And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. [11] And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. [12] And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. [13] He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; [14] and he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.”

Elisha who vehemently rejected every attempt to discourage him and demanded for double portion of the spirit of Elijah and eventually got it and the question is how?
He had the mindset of double portion.
Whatever your mind can conceive your hand can receive, and can even distribute it.
Did you notice that:
#….No student of the school of the sons of the prophet thought of double as an achievable standard in their ministry?
#…Elisha insisted on double portion and got it partially because he did not only see Elijah when he was taken away but saw much more. Did I hear you say how?. Can you take time to compare these two statements:
1. If you see me when am taken away from you.
2. And Elisha saw it, what does this second one connote? The man saw much more than Elijah demanded of him.
Also have you discovered that:
A. When Elisha was commissioned he was using two bulls to work on the farm, he killed the two and boiled the flesh in a goodbye feast for his people at home.
B. Elisha Crossed the river Jordan twice; first with Elijah and secondly alone.
C. He solved a twin problem of barren land and bitter water in Jericho after crossing over.
D. He performed double the number of total miracles that Elijah performed.
Beloved reader use your mind to generate a mega goal and meticulously focus on accomplishing it, with the help of God you will exceed your own wildest imagination.
What is that thing that has not been achieved before in your family or lineage?
What is the current record of performance in your place of work and what level must you reach before you can break every previous record. You have a sound mind, explore, expand and exploit it seriously with the help of the Holy Ghost and all your contemporaries will begin to bow and recognize Gods grace on your life.
