Topic: Lamentations & Warnings of Jesus 4.
Text: Matthew 16:12, Matthew 23: 2-5; 13-16; 23, 25.
” Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees”
” saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: [3] all therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. [4] For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. [5] But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
[13] But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. [14] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. [15] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. [16] Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
[23] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
[25] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess”
Greetings of high favour to you beloved reader and friend wherever you may be connecting with us for today’s firerised feast of the word and prayers worldover.
We stand on the authority of Luke 1:28 which says:
” And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
To pray with you that:
God of all flesh will cover you with garment of great and high favour.
Whatever represents ordinary labour around you will give way for all round divine favour.
The presence of God will repel every negativity and sustain you with upper hand in every contest in Jesus’ name. AMEN & AAAMEN.
Today in this fourth part we are focusing and sharing on the multiple Warnings of Jesus against the doctrine of the Pharisees. The most important of the characteristics of Pharisees is their hypocrisy.
In our scriptural reference above we read about the multiple denounciations of Pharisee by Jesus mainly due to hypocrisy and it’s various characteristics. We advise that you take time to study the whole chapter to get both the global and specific pictures of the GREAT DENOUNCIATION of the doctrines of the Pharisees.
The love of God for humanity compelled Jesus to warn evey one against the fake life of Pharisees.
A FEW NOTABLE TRAITS OF PHARISEES.
1. First they say but do not do what they profess.
2. Pharisees love to occupy high and conspicuous seats at public meetings.
3. This group of religious leaders of Jesus day were fond of introducing people to religion instead of God.
4. They prefer to teach doctrines of men rather than the word of God.
5. Pharisees love to avoid leadership by example as they never carry a fraction of the load that they compel others to carry!!!!
6. This group of religious leaders don’t pay attention to what goes on inside of themselves but they live to show off painting the outer part of the sepulchre and forgetting the dirty content.
7. The Pharisees lead people astray and away from God.
Therefore dearly beloved.
A. Endeavour to be a genuine, real and correct believer. Think deeply about what goes on in your inside, WITH THE HEART A MAN BELIEVES AND WITH THE MOUTH CONFESSION IS MADE UNTO SALVATION. The word of God in Romans 10:10 confirms this fact.
B. Seek God whole heartedly and He will make Himself known to you and draw you nearer.
Jeremiah 29:13 says:
” And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
If your heart is not in any religious exercise with the aim of glorifying God, the most high may not not reach out to you through the same exercise however well packaged it is. Beware of spiritual exercises without divine presence.
PONDER ON THIS MATTER AND PRAY ABOUT IT AND MAY GOD GRANT YOU DEEPER UNDERSTANDING.
